Age 64 of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Wilmington passed away on April 4, 2015 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Sarasota, FL.Michael was born in Wilmington the son of Mary (Schulte) and the late Horace Merrill. He graduated from Wilmington High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War. Mike was a sheet metal worker with Local 19 for over 25 years. He was a member of the Delaware National Guard, VFW Post 2863 and St. John's Cathedral. He was predeceased by his daughter, Michelle Stafford.Mike is survived by his daughters, Christine Merrill of Wilmington and Melinda Arce-Batiz of Bradenton, FL; his son, Michael F. Merrill, Jr. of Wilmington; his mother, Mary E. Merrill of Wilmington; his sisters and their husbands, Karen Dolan (George) of St. Augustine, FL, Janice Pawlikowski (Al) of Abilene, KS, Donna Merrill (Eric) of Hockessin, Nancy Rizzi (Gino) of Newport and Joanne Schneider (Gene) of Middletown and eight grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington at 12:30 PM. Friends may visit from 11 AM to 12:30 PM. A private burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
