Meta Alyne Caserta, 79 of Newark, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, December 28, 2020 at her residence. Meta was born in Wilmington, DE, the daughter of the late Edith (Kirkner) and George Coburn. She was a proud graduate of the former Wilmington High School, class of 1960. She worked with her husband operating their service station business for many years, while also working with her daughter Meta Marie in her cleaning service. She was also a devoted and passionate homemaker, making sure her girls and grandsons were taking care of and well loved, while never missing one of their sporting events. She loved traveling with her family, including multiple trips to Las Vegas, but her favorite was the beach, in particular Sea Isle City and Wildwood NJ because of their boardwalks. Meta is predeceased by her two brothers: Wayne Coburn, and George Coburn. Meta is survived of her husband of 59 years, David; her daughters Meta Marie Caserta Hanley (Mike), and Teresa Caserta Antenucci; her six grandchildren; her four great grandchildren; her brother Clarence Coburn; her sister Kathy Coburn Gagliardino; Most importantly, her dog and loyal companion Lucy; she also had a host of close friends whom she loved dearly. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington DE, 19808 where friends may call from 1pm to 3pm. A capacity restriction of 50 people will be enforced and masks are required. Burial will be held privately. Funeral services will be held at a later date.
