M. Norma Winkelman, 97 of Newark passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Churchman's Village.

Norma was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Mary Margaret (Stiller) and Norman O. Thompson. She worked as a receptionist at F. Schumacher for 23 years, retiring in 1989. Norma enjoyed Wii bowling and playing cards with her friends at Churchman's Village. She was a former member of Holy Family Church.

Norma was predeceased by her husband, Paul E. Winkelman in 2017; her sister, Sr. Margaret Maureen "Pat" Thompson, OSF and her sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and William Wintrup, II. Norma is survived by her niece, Sandra Scott of Newark; her nephew, William Wintrup, III and his wife, Kathleen of Bear; her great nephew, William G Wintrup IV, wife Erin of Bear and great niece Christina Wintrup of Wilmington; her great great nieces, Kylie and McKenna and her great great nephew, Landon.

Norma's family would like to thank the nurses and staffs of Accent Care and Bayada Hospice.

Friends may call on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 10 to 11 AM at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM.  Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Accent Care, 220 Continental Dr Ste 407, Newark, DE 19713.
