Mary Smith Simpson, age 87, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on May 24, 2024.

Born in Shickshinny, PA, she was the daughter of the late Sara (Ridall) and George Smith. She graduated from Milford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with her R.N. Mary spent time working as a nurse for Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford Manor, Lake Forest High School, and Dr. Vincent Lobo, in addition to raising her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by those closest to her.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, James W. Simpson and her son, James J. Simpson. She is survived by her daughter, Debra DeLuca and son-in-law, Anthony, with whom she lived; and son, Steven Simpson and daughter-in-law, Gayle; her 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held privately.
