Obituary

Mary Ann Palmer, "Shelli", age 79, of Newark, DE went to her eternal home with Jesus on December 23, 2022. She peacefully passed away in the presence of her children at Christiana Hospital.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 4th, 1943, she was the daughter of late Anna (McKulko) and Harry Shalansky.  She graduated from Duquesne University and worked as a naturalist for the city of Newark and later as a Vocational Case Manager at Perry and Associates prior to retirement.

Shelli was a devoted member of Victory Christian Fellowship of New Castle, DE.  She graduated from Bible college in 1986 and became a pastor. She was a founding pastor of Blessings, Dressings & More/Heart for Humanity.  She was passionate for the Lord and helping other people. Through Blessings and Dressings other ministries were founded; Senior Saturday (A ministry for senior citizens), Veterans Celebration, prison ministry, Thanksgiving Basket giveaway, motel ministry, and a Back to Work program for those coming out of prison. She was generous with her time and finances and supported many ministries.

Shelli loved God. She believed wholeheartedly that Jesus was her Savior and Lord and she lovingly and unapologetically shared this with those she came in contact. She desired for all to be saved. She loved her family. She was devoted, sacrificial, and involved. She loved people.  She was a second mother to many of her children's friends. She was a prayer warrior, empathetic listener, and a wise counselor. She helped many in their times of need and led them to a saving faith in Jesus. She loved Israel and her Jewish heritage. A highlight of her adult life was traveling there multiple times. She loved Pittsburgh and was an avid Steeler fan. She loved animals and nature and took many stray cats and dogs into her care. She was a cancer survivor. Her mantras during her last few years were "The joy of the Lord is my strength" and "I am at peace." She was a blessing to many and will be greatly missed.

Shelli is survived by her children and their spouses, Armonde Sylvester (Tony),  Pilar Compello (Erik), and Mark Palmer (Natalia); her grandchildren, David, Cody, Shane, Carter, Emily, Jessica, and Elizabeth; her great grandchild, Adrianna; her brother, Robert "Bob" Shalansky (Toni), her nephew Brett and her former spouse, George Palmer.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Stephanie Hasselbach and Alison Taub for their loving care and friendship to our mom.
