Mary Louise (Mulrine) McKeown of Wilmington, DE passed away surrounded by her family and friends on April 1st, 2026, after battling cancer for 6 years.
Born on October 23, 1945, Mary Louise graduated from Ursuline Academy in Wilmington DE, and she attended Misericordia University. She volunteered at Emmanuel Dining Room serving breakfast, and also at the Chester County Food Cupboard West Chester and Little Sisters of the Poor. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends to various places. She was an avid gardener, with a particular fondness for roses.
She was a loving wife to Pat of nearly 60 years, a devoted mother to Christine Loncki (Butchie Zarrilli), Colleen McKeown-Goodhue (David), P.J. (Maxann) and Eddie. She was also a proud Mom-Mom to her five grandchildren Olivia Downey (Jeff), Alexis and Sam Mckeown, Mickey and Jack Goodhue; and two Great Granddaughters Sadie and Lennon Downey.
She is predeceased by her father, Edward Mulrine, and her mother, Louise (Wachter) Mulrine; step-granddaughter, Sr. Airman Elizabeth Loncki; in-laws, Joseph and Ann McKeown, Elizabeth and Carmen Nepa, Bernadette Oddo; dear friends and cousins, Christine and Jack Bonsby, Betty Mulrine and Geri Bilinski.
She is survived by her cousin Andy Mulrine, sisters-in-law, Mary Ryan and Michaeline Skodzinski, and dear friend Jane Ruggiero.
She embraced her role as a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker with deep love and faith, serving her family with the same devotion she brought to her relationship with God. She inspired her devotion to God in everyone she came in contact with. Her faith was not only something she believed but something she lived each day with kindness, compassion, and grace. She found joy in attending Mass, participating in Church traditions, and sharing her love of God with those around her.
A visitation will be held on Thursday April 9, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
with Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:30 A.M. at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial to follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
