Mary T.
Caputo
December 19, 1937 – May 17, 2025
Born in Philadelphia, Mary was the daughter of the late Mary (Flynn) and Albert Labenz. Mary graduated from Saint Joan of Arc Elementary School then attended Harding High School. Mary soon met and fell in love with her beloved husband, Louie. Mary and Louie married in their late teens and from that moment forward Mary dedicated her life and love to her husband and children, Louis and Elise. Mary was so proud of each of their successes including her husband's paperhanging career, her son Louis' banking career, and her daughter Elise's healthcare and floral designing careers. Mary wore all her pride every day inside and out.
Mary and her husband, Louie, were very social and often entertained in their home. Although Louie was the main chef of the family, Mary always was by his side, complementing meals with the magical touch of her perfectly thin pizzelles and many other Italian baked goods.
Mary loved preparing for guests-making sure everything looked perfect and making her house feel welcoming and warm. Walk into their large kitchen during one of these gatherings, and you'd find dancing -especially the jitterbug-singing, and laughing. Their friends - best known as "The Crowd" and family loved gathering and celebrating in their home.
Following the passing of her husband, Mary moved to Newark, Delaware, to join the rest of her family, where she enjoyed an active life participating in several senior groups. She was always the first to offer a ride to her senior friends and often stepped up to organize luncheons and events. Later as the years moved along, Mary moved to Foulk Senior Living in Wilmington, Delaware where she received many years of exceptional loving care from the dedicated Foulk Living Staff. While living at Foulk, Mary continued a lifetime friendship with her son Louis' mother-in-law Mary G, who is also a resident. This friendship quickly grew into a friendship of three - Mary C., Mary G., and Mary B. - together known as "The Three Marys". The Marys were inseparable and always explicitly supported each other with love and care. This support echoed throughout Foulk bringing happiness to everyone.
Mary's greatest joy over all the years was spending time with her family who all were the center of her life. Mary especially enjoyed spending time with her sweet, kind, and beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each one of them loves and misses her forever.
In addition to her loving parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Louis A. Caputo, Sr.
Mary is survived by her children and their spouses, Louis A. Caputo Jr. (Mary Theresa) and Elise Giordano (Matthew); her grandchildren, Donna Caputo-Alvarez (Brian), Theresa Caputo, and Scott Collins; and her great-grandchildren, Vincent, Stella, and Victoria.
