Obituary

Mary (Betty) Elizabeth Glynn, age 90, of Wilmington, DE, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023 at her home in Wilmington.

Mary was born in Wilmington, DE on July 1, 1933, to the late James and Nellie (Haggerty) Glynn. Mary retired after many years at the News Journal in Wilmington, DE in 1997. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Elizabeth's Church, where she graduated and dedicated her life to God and the church.

Mary loved spending time with family and friends at the Delaware beaches and Wildwood, New Jersey. She loved music and going to concerts with her nieces and nephews. Mary was full of life, was always on the go and had the opportunity to visit her dream, Ireland. Mary was also a sports fan and loved sitting down, having a Budweiser, and watching the Baltimore Orioles and the Green Bay Packers. She enjoyed the horse races at Delaware Park and being around family and friends. Even in her late 80's, she still had friends she talked to from high school and enjoyed going to her annual schoolgirl luncheon at the Hunters Den with her graduating class. She will be sadly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, James E. Glynn and Francis J. Glynn; sister, Helen C. Moore; niece, Marie Glynn; and nephew, John W. Moore, Jr.

Mary is survived by her nieces and nephews, Michelle Brackin, Michael Glynn (Diane), Theresa McCloy (Dave), Kimberly DeBerardinis (Bob), Dianna Healy (Edward), Brian Moore (Kristie), Alison Glynn Lewis (Eric), and Kelly Glynn; her great nieces and nephews, RJ, Michael, Marissa, Melanie, Alex, Nichole, Bobby III, Macie, Megan, Sean, Beverly, and Francis; and a host of extended family.
