Mary Ann Witz, 83, of Middletown, Delaware passed away on July 15, 2023.
She was the daughter of the late Sara (Lamborn) and Willard Geiszler Sr. Mary Ann was an excellent student and graduated from P.S. Dupont High school in 1958. After high school, she worked at the DuPont Company until she married and embarked on a career as a homemaker and mother of 6. After her children were grown, Mary Ann worked as an administrative assistant for the state of Delaware, where she retired after many years.
Mary Ann led a life deeply rooted in faith as a devoted Roman Catholic. Her unwavering commitment to her beliefs guided her actions and enriched the lives of those around her. She found solace and strength in her spirituality. Mary Ann was a regular attendee at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Delaware City.
Throughout her life, Mary Ann enjoyed a variety of interests and hobbies. She had a keen intellect and found great pleasure in engaging her mind with word puzzles and cryptograms. Her love for shopping was well-known, and she could always be found scouting the best deals. Mary Ann was an excellent seamstress, and also participated in bowling leagues. She was a fan of mystery novels and TV; her favorite shows included Murder She Wrote and Ironside. She volunteered for various organizations and the local elections, and always kept up with current news and events. Mary Ann loved parties and dances, and looked forward to family holiday gatherings. She eagerly anticipated outings with the Christian Fellowship and Changing Pathways groups.
She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Duffy, second husband John (Jack) Witz, and son-in-law Keith Cook. She is survived by her children: Kathleen Morris (Barry), Maryellen Davis (John), Sharon Cook, Michael Duffy, Diane Marks (Randall), and Jennifer Pardue (Joe); her siblings Bill (Marilyn), Claire (Dave), Joan (Allan) and Carl (Gail), as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Service and Celebration of Life will be held on August 26th at 10:00am at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Delaware City. Burial will be held privately at Cathedral Cemetery.
