Marlene Galloway
Sosnowik
December 28, 1933 – October 26, 2022
Marlene Galloway Sosnowik, age 88, of Lewes, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
Marlene was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Alice Grace (Mitchell) and Earle (Boots) Bruce Galloway. She graduated from Wilmington High School and went on to work as a secretary at the Fraim Senior Center in addition to being a tireless homemaker for her five children. Marlene enjoyed spending time with her family (including many special times with her sister Faye), and especially her grandchildren and was extremely proud of her great grandchildren. Marlene was an award-winning quilter and her sewing talents ranged from Barbie doll clothes to intricate dresses and clothes for her entire family. A fabulous knitter, family and friends welcomed home newborns dressed in outfits made by Marlene. She loved beach-time, traveling, reading, held her own fishing, and was quite the singer, dancer, and bowler. Marlene also kept busy before and after retirement with her friends in Cleland Heights, the Crestmoor Pool gang, her fellow St. E's volunteers, and of course, her quilting friends at Claymore Senior Center. In addition to her parents, Marlene was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Anthony J. Sosnowik.
Marlene will be missed by her family including her children and their spouses, Dolores and Martin Moran of Newark, A. Joseph and Cindy Sosnowik of Ruther Glen, VA, Diane Murphy of Lewes, Annette and Conway Bristow of Lewes, and Richard and Andrea Sosnowik of Pennsville, NJ; her grandchildren, Conway and Chelsea Bristow of Lewes, Alice Murphy of Lewes, Adam Sosnowik of Philadelphia, Kelly Bristow of Washington, DC and Erann and Bradley Dutton of Woolwich, NJ; her great-grandchildren Bradley and Rose Marlene; and her devoted sister Faye and brother-in-law Joe McCollum and her nephew Michael (Mickey), wife Kim and daughter Mikayla, all in Springfield, VA.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Mooring for their care, support and positive energy during her time there. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Elizabeth Parish, 809 S. Broom Street Wilmington, DE 19805. Services will be private.
