Obituary

Mark Andrew Hartsky, age 66, of Wilmington, DE, was taken home to be with God at the beginning of the Easter Season. Son of the late Jean and Bill Hartsky, Mark was born in Wilmington, DE. He was a proud alum of Salesianum School and of the University of Delaware. Mark believed deeply in the value of hard work. He worked two jobs while attending college and raising four children. He willingly went above and beyond working for the DuPont Company for over 30 years. He then started his own armor and ballistics consulting business and worked for BGF Industries as a technical engineer until his recent retirement.

In his "leisure time", he enjoyed working on home improvement and landscaping projects for himself, family, and friends. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved animals, fed the birds, delighted in the deer and foxes visiting his yard, and especially loved dogs. He enjoyed the beach and listening to classic rock at full volume, singing along perfectly matching pitch and key.

Mark was predeceased by his son John Sheridan Hartsky, his parents, Jean and Bill Hartsky, and his brother-in-law, Corey Pote. Mark will be dearly missed by his children Cara Carter of Wilmington, Cathleen Hartsky-Carter (Sean), of Claymont, and his son, Mark John William Hartsky of Claymont; his grandchildren Sean Michael, Theresa, Cara Rose, John, and Conor Carter; his siblings Suzanne Blowers, Michael Hartsky, Lynn Brown (Alan), Tom Hartsky, Judy DiMichele (Joey), John Hartsky (Lisa), Jim Hartsky (Gail), Jean Pote, and Carolyn Henry (Bill); his many nieces and nephews; and his significant other, Patricia Pattee.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, 10A.M. to 11 A.M., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow. Internment will directly follow the Mass at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington.
