Plattsburgh " Marjorie "Marge" Dupra Maloney Holdridge, 89, formerly of Route 9, Keeseville and the Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh, died Sunday, December 27, 2015 in Wilmington, Delaware.She was born in the Peru Village at the home of her maternal grandparents, Fred and Jennie Jarvis, July 12, 1926, the first child and only daughter of Albert H. and Marie E. (Jarvis) Dupra. Marge attended Peru schools through the 6th grade and then became a student at Keeseville High School where she graduated in June of 1943 at the age of sixteen.In November of 1946, Marge married her high school sweetheart, Alan Louis Maloney, of Keeseville. They were happily married for more than twenty-five years, prior to Al passing in 1973. In January of 1944, Marge started her career in the insurance field. Her first employer was the D.A. Traynor Insurance Agency in Plattsburgh, which later became the Traynor-Marcus Agency. While there, she took the New York State examinations and became a licensed insurance agent.In 1960, Marge took a few years off from the insurance business to spend time at home with her daughter, Mary Margaret. In 1965, Marge returned to the insurance field, working at the Chandler-Forrence Insurance Agency in Keeseville. When she retired, she was the Office Manager and Secretary-Treasurer of the Clark-Forrence Agency in Keeseville and the Clark-Richards Agency in Ausable Forks.In 1976, Marge took square dancing lessons and then graduated from square dancing class. During this time, her helper and partner was Lawrence Holdridge, of Keeseville. They were married in August of 1981. After retiring, Marge and Larry moved to Florida, where she helped Larry teach square dancing to many retirees. Marge sewed dozens of square dancing costumes, learned to quilt, and became an avid quilter. Marge and Larry spent many happy years traveling to square dance weekends and festivals throughout the United States and Canada. Over the years Marge was a volunteer for the Girls Scouts, took classes at Clinton County Community College, kept up to date on developments in the insurance business by attending workshops, volunteered at the reception desk of the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, and volunteered at the Pink Door, the thrift shop benefiting the Bert Fish Hospital in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.Marge and Larry moved back to the North Country in 2003, staying in an apartment on the Tom Miller Road in Plattsburgh, where they enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. They later moved to Wilmington, Delaware in 2010. Larry passed away in 2012.In addition to Alan Maloney and Lawrence Holdridge, Marge was predeceased by her brothers Robert Dupra and Francis Dupra.Marge is survived by her daughter Mary Margaret MaloneyHuss and husband Ben Goldstein, of Wilmington, Delaware, one grand-daughter, Martha Alice MaloneyHuss of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and her baby brother, Harold Dupra, of Plattsburgh. She is also survived by ten nieces and nephews, including one very special nephew, Mark Dupra and wife Maureen Sullivan of Fairbanks, Alaska. Marge is also survived by seven stepchildren and their families, which includes ten step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Foundation of CVPH, Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, 75 Beekman Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.Service details are incomplete and will be announced by Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru, NY.
