Obituary

Marie E. Freccia, age 100, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on December 30th, 2025 surrounded by her family. A lifelong resident of Wilmington, Marie was the daughter of the late Agnes (Bachmurski) and Cornelius Donovan. She graduated from Wilmington High School and went on to work at the Wilmington Trust Company as Head Teller for nearly 30 years. Marie was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church and the Claymore Senior Center. She enjoyed driving herself to church to start off her day and attending her quilting class at Claymore with her friends. She enjoyed making crafts for her family, and looked forward to their annual beach trips and spending holidays together. Seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up was her greatest joy, and her favorite names to be called were "Mom", "Nana" and "Granny".

Marie is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Adam Freccia; brother, Neil Donovan; sister, Peg Haley; and her beloved grandson, Justin Jennings. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Nancy and Tom Kalafut, Pat and Jan Freccia, Mary Ellen Goog and Craig Nantias, Denise Boyle, and Michele and Mike Speary; her sister, Roseanne Christopher; her grandchildren, Anissa Rembert (Charlie), Adam Jennings (Christine), Danielle Wenzel (Nathan), Brent Freccia (Diana), Alison Panicola (Anthony), Jessica Foti (Ryan), and Keelin Austin (Tyler); her great grandchildren, Payton, Avarie, Louie, Lillian, Andrew, Juliet, Anthony, Cara, Justin, Maddalena, Sawyer, Mera, and Clark; her extended family, the DeCampli's; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the nurses and aides of The Summit for their attentive and loving care of Marie. They would also like to thank Carly from Vitas Hospice for the years of care she offered to Marie, up until her final days.
