Marie T. Episcopo, age 76, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Marie was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Mary D. (Certesio) and Henry P. Szczesiak. Marie graduated from St. Elizabeth's High School and received her Paraprofessional Licensure from the University of Delaware. Marie went on to work at Richardson Park Elementary and Del Castle High School, where she specialized in Special Education. Marie's family meant a lot to her, and she was her sons, Carmen and Vincent, number one fan cheering them on at every event from T-ball to their more recent accomplishments. In her free time, Marie enjoyed listening to Cher, reading, watching movies, traveling to the Delaware Beaches, and vacationing in the Bahamas with her husband Alex, a trip they had made for 17 consecutive years at one point.

Marie is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Alexander Episcopo; sons, Carmen and Vincent Episcopo; sisters, Ann Messick and Patricia Schmidt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends whom she all loved.

A visitation for Marie will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 10am-12pm. Services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Marie's name to the Sunday Breakfast Mission, Disabled American Veterans, or the Wounded Warriors Project.
