Marie Elaine McVey, age 76, of Lewes, formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away at her home on June 13th, 2023.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Rita (Sauers) and James G. Tharan. She worked in Sales at MBNA and First USA, spent time in banking as a collector, and enjoyed her work in the advertising department of the Wilmington News Journal. Marie loved to shop, especially at her "regular" spots such as Kohls, Boscov's, and QVC. She enjoyed going on cruises with her husband, Bill, and their family, and spending time at the Harrington Raceway and Casino. Marie was active at the Lewes Senior Activity Center and enjoyed socializing and playing bingo with the friends she made there. She will be missed dearly by her friends and family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" McVey III; her brother, John Tharan; and her grandson, Zachary Wojnisz. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Shawn and Shelley McVey and Joseph and Valerie McVey; her grandchildren, Kyle and Rita; and her sister-in-law, Deborah Tharan.

A visitation will be held on Thursday June 22, 2023 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 A.M. at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
