Marian B. Grimes, age 87, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 9, 2022.

Born in Ridgely, MD on August 14, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Myrtle Hughes (Bartlett) and Wirt Draper Bartlett.

Marian graduated from Goldey-Beacom with an Associate's degree in Business Administration and went on to become a Paraprofessional for the Red Clay Consolidated School District, where she worked for 31 years before retiring in 1999. In her free time, Marian loved to do crossword puzzles and art therapy, she was an avid reader, and loved spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Marian was predeceased by her husband, Joseph F. Grimes I and son, David Grimes Sr.

She is survived by her brother, Wirt D. Bartlett, son Joseph F. Grimes II (Debbie), daughter, Mimi Hurley (Douglas), daughter-in-law, Mary Grimes; her grandchildren; Lisa Miller, Gina Thomas, Joseph Thomas, Megan Hurley, Kerri Johnston (Mike) Joseph F. Grimes III (Marilyn), Douglas J. Hurley, Kelly Grimes, David Grimes Jr., and John J. Grimes; ten great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and numerous close family and friends.

A Memorial service for family and friends will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Marian's name to the American Heart Association, or your favorite charity.
