Margaret V. (DeForge) Nogan, age 93, of Newark, DE passed away with her daughter by her side on April 4, 2020. Born in Waterbury, VT, she was the daughter of the late Rena (Pecor) and Frances DeForge. Margaret was a member of the Women's Army Corps and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. She met her husband, William, while in the army and they were married in Germany. Following the war, William and Margaret settled in Claymont and Margaret went on to work as a real estate agent. In her elder years, Margaret moved to the Little Sisters of the Poor, where she resided for almost 15 years. While at Little Sisters, she took up quilting and published a romance-mystery novel at the age of 90. In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, William, in 1995 and eleven siblings.
Margaret is survived by her children and their spouses, Catherine V. and Joseph Thurstlic of Chadds Ford, PA and William R. Nogan, Jr. and Delores of Wilmington, DE; her grandchildren, Michelle, Kim, Adam, Alex, Heather, Billy and Kendra; her great grandchildren, Lucy, Emily, Hayley, Ryan, Reese, Colin, Jack, Gabe, Rebecca, Violet, Abigail, Cameron, and Charlotte; her sister, Roberta Freeman of Olean, NY; and her brothers, Elmer DeForge of Olean, NY and Ronald DeForge of Barre, VT.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, funeral services will be held privately. Burial will be held beside her husband at Lawncroft Cemetery. Donations in her name can be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713
