Margaret A. Twardus, "Marty", 80 of Wilmington DE passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
Marty was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Irene (Lewis) and Homer E. King. She graduated from Dickinson High School and had a successful career for over 40 years in real estate and insurance. Marty was a former member of Cavaliers Country Club. She attended St. Anthony of Padua Church for many years, where she served as a eucharistic minister and gave her personal time to family and volunteering at the Richardson Park United Methodist Church Soup Kitchen and St. Stephens Food Bank in Wilmington Delaware. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
In addition to her parents, Marty was predeceased by her brothers, Cephas King and Homer King, Jr.; sister-in-law, Sandra King; her sister Irene Harris and brother-in-law, Matthew Harris; her brothers-in-law Thomas, Eugene, Edward, Richard; sisters-in-law Midge Twardus and Judy Twardus; and her husband, Francis X. Twardus, who passed away in July of 2022.
Marty is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bob Wherry of Hockessin, DE; sister-in-law, Marge King of Newark, DE; brother-in-law, William Twardus of Hockessin, DE; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Michael of Wilmington, DE; sister-in-law, Zina Twardus and many loving nieces and nephews who will always remember "Aunt Marty" and her life lesson of giving.
Marty's family would like to thank all the special staff at Compassionate Care, Bayada Home Health Care and the Memory Care Unit at The Summit.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 25th, 2023, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, where friends may visit after 10 a.m. Entombment will be at Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707 or donate to the Alzheimer's Association, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization at www.alz.org.
