Margaret Elaine deVry, "Peggy", age 83, of Malvern, PA, passed away on June 26, 2025, from complications related to Alzheimer Disease. Born in Wilmington, Peggy was the daughter of the late Estelle Margaret (Brosius) and Owen E. O'Neal. She was number 12 in a sibling clan of 13 which included 3 sets of twins. Peggy graduated from Padua Academy and Misericordia University with a degree in elementary education. In school, she was very active in student affairs, serving in various class leadership positions. In 1962, Peggy was chosen to serve as May Queen at Misericordia.
Peggy started her teaching career in the public school system of Reston, Virginia and continued teaching after marriage and while raising a family in the Cleveland, Ohio area for 17 years. In 1985, she moved to Malvern and taught first at Sts. Phillip and James school, and later in the Tredyffrin/Easttown public school system as an instructional support teacher until retirement in 2009.
In addition to her parents, Peggy is predeceased by her siblings, Owen O'Neal, Jr., Lewis O'Neal, Joseph O'Neal, Lawrence O'Neal, Ronald O'Neal, Patsy DiMao, Doris Mazzio, Lorraine Becker, and Shirley Giofre.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 57 years, William Edward "Bill" deVry; her children, Kim deVry Klipstein, Kirsten Farish (Chris), Mark deVry, and Michael deVry; her grandchildren, Emily Newdeck, Katelyn Farish, Mackenzie Farish, and Connor Farish; her siblings, Patty Algard, Yvonne O'Neal, and Roger O'Neal; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Peggy loved music, singing, dancing, and her family. Whether she was singing in the kitchen, in church as a cantor, or in shows in college, Peggy did it with her trademark smile. She loved spending time with her 4 grandchildren even if it was just a trip to McDonalds or running errands.
A visitation, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, will be held on Wednesday July 2nd, 2025 at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Catholic Church, 10 Old Church Road Wilmington, DE 19807. Visitation will run from 9:30 A.M.-10:30 A.M. with Mass to follow. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Ashland, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association and/or planting a tree in Peggy's memory.
