Obituary

It is with great sorrow that the family of Marcie Jean Tribbitt announces that she went to meet our Lord Savior on Sunday, August 23, 2020. She suffered an aneurysm on August 21,2020 at 2:30 am. Her devoted husband, Bob, gave her CPR compressions until the EMT's arrived, and Marcie continued her battle at Christiana Hospital until August 23, 2020, when she peacefully slipped away with Bob by her side. Marcie Jean Tribbitt was born on April 10, 1944, to her parents, John Duffin and Emma (Knudsen) Duffin. She was born in Baraboo, Wisconsin. In addition to her parents, Marcie is predeceased by her granddaughter, Sherry Rinehart. The family moved to Wilmington, Delaware while Marcie was a toddler (about 3 years old), but she says all she remembers is living in Delaware, growing up here, and attending school. Marcie stayed in the Wilmington area and this is where her children were born. John Tribbitt and Deanna Tribbitt Marcelo. She loved being a mother to them, and watching them grow into the fine adults they have become. For Marcie, one of her fondest memories of their childhood was taking them to Hercules Clubhouse Pool, a privilege that was given to the employees. She worked at Hercules for 20 years. It was during these years that she joined the Group of Synchronized Swimmers. It was a great pleasure when she swam in unison with these ladies. So, any summer weekend you could find them at the pool. The kids jumping and playing in the pool, and Marcie being our own "Esther Williams". It was on June 27, 1975 that she was joined in marriage to Robert (Bob) James Tribbitt, and for 45 years they swam all through the ups and downs of life. Raising their children and caring for her mother, Emma, during her later years, synchronized and in unison. Through their many years of marriage, Marcie and Bob enjoyed cruising around town in the antique car that Bob restored by hand, a 1957 Pontiac Star Chief. Marcie always knew where to look for Bob, as she would say, "tinkering in the garage". Considering that Marcie started out as an only child, she expanded her family to be: A loving wife to her husband, Robert J. Tribbitt. A devoted mother to her children and their spouses, Deanna L. and Victor Marcelo, III and John W. and Donna Tribbitt. She cherished her 8 grandsons, Wesley Tribbitt (Molly), Kyle Tribbitt (Amy), Aaron Tribbitt (Sara), Marshall Tribbitt (Brittany), Michael Rinehart (Sherry), Matthew Rinehart (Becca), Victor Marcelo IV and Luke Marcelo. And she held dear to her heart her 7 great- grandchildren. Marcie was known for her kind heart and was always there to help family and friends. Through the years, Marcie not only opened her heart, but her home to many who were in need of a place to stay. She made everyone feel welcome, and while she was always surrounded by her immediate family, Marcie was considered the "second mom & grandmom" to many of John and Deanna's friends. While Marcie was small in stature, her heart had no limits. She was loved by many. We will miss her deeply, but the precious memories will be in our hearts forever.
