Marcia M.
Cloud
January 6, 1943 – May 30, 2023
Marcia M. Cloud, born January 6th, 1943, in Wilmington DE passed away surrounded by her family on May 30th, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Beatrice (Russell) Maucher and Lawrence M. Maucher. In addition to her parents, Marcia was predeceased by her sister, Karen Oswald; her sister-in-law Mary Jo Maucher; and her brother-in-law, Martin Kirk.
Marcia graduated from Conrad High School and earned an education degree from the University of Delaware. She went on to work at several different schools throughout Wilmington, earning a reputation as a caring and devoted teacher. She continued her education, earning a Master's in Reading while working full-time and raising her two energetic young boys. This degree enabled her to become a guidance counselor; a role in which she thrived. Later in life Marcia reinvented herself as an avid cyclist. She completed multiple Bike to the Bay events alongside her many friends and won a Gold medal in the Senior Olympics. Outside of biking, she forged many long and meaningful friendships while attending her long-standing weekly Mahjong get togethers. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Peter J. Cloud; her son Michael Cloud, daughter-in-law Arleta Cloud (Wiacek) and son Jason Cloud; her grandchildren, Maximillian, Phillip, and Oscar; her sister, Nancy Sheehan Kirk; and her brother, Lawrence Maucher.
