Loretta Caputo, age 89, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on October 10th, 2022 surrounded by her family. Loretta was born in Wilmington, DE on September 2nd, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Viola Van Vechten and Ernest Groves.

In her younger years, Loretta was a volunteer for the USO supporting our troops and did some modeling.  Loretta previously worked for Gracelawn Cemetery as an Administrative Assistant and was a homemaker for her four children.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing needlepoint, and loved visiting Delaware Park. Her greatest joy in life, however, was her family.

In addition to her parents, Loretta was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Francis Caputo and her sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice "June" and Kenneth Schneckenburger. She is survived by her children, Michael Caputo (Shelly) of Middletown, DE, Mark Caputo of Newark, DE, Michelle Caputo of Miami, FL, and Marlon Caputo, of Newark, DE; her grandchildren, Heather, Carle, Nicholas, Kirstie, Ashlyn, Cameron, Macie, Abigail, Ryan and nine great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on October 25, 2022 from 10:00 A.M to 11:00 A.M. at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, with a service beginning at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity or perform a random act of kindness.
