Lois Anne Oberle
Bonarigo
October 15, 1952 – July 2, 2025
Lois Anne Oberle Bonarigo, age 72, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025.
Lois was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Janet (Arnett) and William A. Oberle. Lois graduated from Concord High School and went on to become an ESL teacher at Christiana High School before her retirement. Before becoming a teacher, Lois was proud to be a homemaker and mother to her twins, who were the pride of her life. Lois was also fortunate enough to be nominated to the Junior Board of Directors at Christiana Hospital, a position she still holds to this day, with the help of her sponsors and dear friends, Helen Purcell and Janet Mumford. In her free time, Lois enjoyed gardening, needle point crocheting, making baby clothes for her twins and family, playing tennis with her husband John, going on family trips to the beach, and spending time with her beloved family and friends. Animals also held a special place in Lois's heart, including the former family cats Willie and Ellie. In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by her sister, Kaye Oberle Gebert.
Lois is survived by the love of her life, husband of 44 years, John Phillip Bonarigo; her twins, Phillip Gerard Bonarigo and his wife, Shelby, and Leanne Christine Bonarigo and her husband, Eric Wurtzel; grandson, Ethan Wurtzel with one more on the way; brother William A. Oberle Jr. and his wife Sally, sister, Faye Fields and her husband, Newell Fields; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family and friends whom she all loved.
A visitation for Lois will be held on Friday July 11, 2025, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 10:30-11:30am, with funeral service following at 11:30am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Lois's name to a charitable organization of their choosing.
