Obituary

Linda J. Proskow, 61, of Wilmington passed away peacefully at her son's home on Sunday, March 10, 2019, after a long battle with breast cancer. She battled this disease with a positive attitude, a great sense of humor, and a love for life and her family. She will always be admired for this.Linda was born in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada, and was the daughter of the late Sheila (Brown) and Stephen Proskow. She graduated with a Political Science degree from the University of Delaware and spent the early years of her career starting a company specializing in Business Services and Administration. In her recent years, Linda worked in Administration for IKO Roofing Company.Linda was known for her hard work and dedication to her job and took great pride in being a subject matter expert. She used to express the love she had for her coworkers, especially appreciating the times she spent with them at various IKO functions.Linda is survived by her loving children, Michael, Stephanie, and Lindsay Marinelli, all of Wilmington, DE, and her grandchildren, Anthony, Milan, and William. She loved gathering the family at her home to celebrate various occasions. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, which was always accompanied by her traditionally-made cabbage rolls and favorite movie, Joe Dirt. Linda will be missed by her sisters Margaret Slifer of Wilmington, DE. Karen Melhorn (William) of Lincoln, DE, and Janet Biddle of Lewes, DE. She is also survived by a host of loving and extended family of which there are too many to list. When it came to loving people, there never seemed to be an upper limit for Linda and the love she supplied never seemed to be affected by logic and reasoning. She was always happy to extend a helping hand to anybody that needed it, even if it meant inconveniencing herself. On March 10, 2019, this world lost a very special person and an irreplaceable love. She was the best mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that anyone could ask for and we will all miss her dearly. To honor Linda and share stories, a Celebration of Life will be held on April 27, 2019 in Newark. Please contact Michael at (267) 640-7560 to confirm attendance. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending contributions to the Helen Graham Cancer Center, 13 Reads Way New Castle, DE 19720, made payable to Christiana Care Health System and with Linda's name in the memo line.
