Lawrence "Larry" Elmer Griffin, Jr., age 79, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023.

Born in West Grove, PA, he was the son of the late Caroline (Wynn) and Lawrence Elmer Griffin, Sr. Larry worked in multiple food service preparation positions throughout his life and enjoyed the opportunity to serve others. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Larry loved spending time talking and eating a good meal with his family and friends, and liked to play the slots at Delaware Park. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, loved to watch wrestling and was an avid puzzle player.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Billy and Bobby Griffin; sister, Gladys Crozier; brothers-in-law, Norman Emory and Robert Mecke; and niece, Ginger Emory. Larry is survived by his daughter, Lori; his devoted sisters, Mary Emory, Linda Mecke, and Millie Whaley (Mark); his nephews, Rob Mecke, Ty Whaley and Norman Emory III; niece, Michele Moore; and a host of extended loved ones including nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.

A visitation will be held at the Mealey Funeral Home, 25089 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808 from 2 P.M. to 3 P.M. with funeral services beginning at 3 P.M. on Saturday April 1st, 2023. Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
