Kuirun Pan, age 92, of Newark, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 26, 2024.
Kuirun was born in Guangdong, China, son of the late Weixin (Zhang) and Gangfa Pan. Kuirun graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University with a bachelors degree although he was admitted first to the more prestigious Tsinghua University. He had to transfer to Shanghai Jiaotong University because of his family background outside of China. He went on to work as an Engineer at the Academy of Sciences until his retirement. Kuirun immigrated to the United States with his family in 2002 and settled in Newark. In his younger years, Kuirun was a talented musician, loving to listen to classical music and play violin. Throughout his life, he was known for his perseverance to overcome obstacles in work and life. He was also known for his kindness and generosity in helping family and friends. In his free time, Kuirun loved spending time with his family and studying his family history. In addition to his parents, Kuirun was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Peizi Yang in 2012; and brother, Hongtai Pan.
Kuirun is survived by his wife, Lang Gu; daughter, Yang Pan; son, Jing Pan; three grandchildren; sister, Jufen Pan, step siblings; and numerous close family friends whom he all loved.
Funeral services for Kuirun will be held at a later date.
