Obituary

Kenneth E. Mersman, 64, of Newark passed away peacefully on October 27, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Ken was born in Houston, TX, son of Macy (Elliott) Mersman and the late Curtis Mersman.  Ken is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ann Marie (Ofalt) Mersman; his sons and their wives, Alton and Kendall, Benjamin and Maeve, and son Daniel Mersman; his mother, Macy Mersman, and his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Herman McGee as well as a large extended Ofalt family and numerous nieces and nephews.

He received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and remained an enthusiastic Aggie.  He worked for over 40 years for the DuPont Company primarily within the Agriculture Products Business and the Engineering Consulting Group as an expert process development engineer.

Ken's passion for music was supported by an extensive vinyl and CD collection.  He was always one of the first to promote new artists before they became mainstream, and he attended many concerts and performances. In addition to music, he was an avid reader and outdoorsman as well as an Astros and Phillies fan. He was most proud of his sons' athletic achievements and professional success.

Ken dedicated volunteering his time as a board member of the local Piedmont baseball league for many years, as well as the neighborhood association. Most recently he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and a strong supporter of their commitment to Faith, Unity, and Charity.
