Katherine L. Christian, age 103, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

Katherine was born in Waverly, KY, daughter of the late Anna Mildred (Wolfe) and Charles E. Russelburg. She was a graduate of St. Peter's H.S. in Waverly. She worked in childcare, as a driller making Corsair airplane wings during WW2, and later as a sales associate at Sears in Prices Corner. In 1942, she met and married Walter, and enjoyed 73 happy years together. She loved being a wife, mother to three boys and homemaker. Katherine was a founding parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena RC Church, Wilmington, DE, where she volunteered for many years. Her faith and way of life was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Katherine also enjoyed time with family and friends, rooting for the Phillies, going to yearly family reunions in IL and going to Bayshore Indian River Bay in the summer for crabbing, fishing, and card games with family.

Katherine was predeceased by her loving husband Walter M. Christian, Sr., sons, Walter M. Christian Jr., Michael A. Christian; brothers, Charles, Joseph, Romuald and Robert Russelburg; sisters, Rhetha Vance, Eva Cunefare and Martha Christian.

Katherine Christian is survived by her son, Larry Christian (Terry); five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Saulsman;  and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends, all of whom she dearly loved.

A visitation for Katherine will take place on Friday, November 25, 2022, at St. Catherine of Siena RC Church, 2503 Centerville Rd, Wilmington, DE  19808, where friends and family may call from 10:30 to 11:30AM with a mass of Christian burial following at 11:30AM. Burial will be held privately.
