Judy Forbes, age 86, of Hockessin, DE passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025.

Judy was born in Glens Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Edgar John Grant and Ellen Sutliff. She was also predeceased by her sister, Connie Keep. Judy graduated from Rochester University (Class of 1961) with a BS in Nursing. She worked for the State of Delaware for over 20 years as a public health nurse until her retirement.

Judy's greatest joys in life were her husband, Sydney Forbes, with whom she just celebrated 62 years of marriage on August 10th. She enjoyed bridge and was an avid quilter who loved to share her knowledge with others. She has donated over 500 quilts she made to veterans, the homeless, and the NICU. In her free time, Judy enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her family and friends.

"Grandma Judy" is survived by her 3 daughters: Sheri Forbes-Houston, Cindy Cheyney (Brian), and Lauri Leary (Jason) and 8 grandchildren: Christine, Noelle, Quinn, Paul, Grant, Brooke, Justin, and Max and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends whom she all loved.

Family and friends are invited to Cokesbury Village, 726 Loveville Rd, Hockessin, DE 19707 on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11 am for a celebration of her life with luncheon following. She requested that everyone wear colorful clothing.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Judy's name to the American Lung Association or Macular Degeneration research.
