Juan O. Perez Toro, age 73, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

Juan was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, son of the late Lydia (Toro) and Juan O. Perez. Juan graduated from Stevens Institute in Hoboken, NJ with a bachelor's in science. Juan worked as a Chemical Process Engineer for the oil refineries in Delaware City, and the Bayway Refinery until his retirement.

His family describes Juan as a religious man who had a strong belief in his faith and had heart of gold, who was loved by everyone who knew him. He was quite active in his younger years, running in 5k marathons, playing racquetball, and spending all day outside enjoying chores around the house. In his free time, Juan enjoyed going to the beach, watching movies, and spending time with his family and friends. Juan was a dedicated father and grandfather, and nothing made him happier than being around his sons and grandchildren.

Juan is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Patricia Fraticelli Perez; sons, Jeffrey O. (Tina) and Christopher M. Perez; grandchildren, Nicholas, Dimitri, Armondo, and Ignacio Perez; sister, Lydia (William) Breban; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends whom he all loved.

The family would like to thank Bayada Hospice for their loving care and support, especially, Kristina, Julie, Kevin, Veronica, Paula and Stacy.

A visitation for Juan will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may call from 2 to 3 PM, with a memorial service following at 3 PM. Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the Wounded Warriors Project.
