Age 85, of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.Joseph is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Truitt Tolmie of Wilmington, DE; his sons, Edward Tolmie (Rebecca) of West Grove, PA and Mark C. Tolmie (Michele) of Newark, DE; and his daughter, Linda A. Doto (Michael) of Bear, DE. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Billy, Heather, Jennifer, Kyle, Christine, Mark Jr. and Stephen; and eight great grandchildren: Grace, Emma, Angelo Jr., Noah, Sophia, Ava, Cameron and Conner; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Sr. and Margaret Palmer Tolmie; his brothers, William, Jr., Harry, John, Martin and Wellington; and his sisters, Dorothy Fahey, Margaret Phelan and Marie Tolmie.Joseph graduated from Wilmington High School and then joined the Air Force during the Korean War. Afterward, he worked as a postman in Wilmington and Union Street post offices. He enjoyed playing baseball when he was young and also golf.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7th at 10:30 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where friends and family are invited to visitation after 9 AM.
