Joseph G. McMahon, age 89, of Camden Wyoming, DE, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, August 22, 2025.

Joseph was born in Wilmington, son of the late Sarah (Garland) and Theodore McMahon. Jospeh attended trade school and went on to become a welder and crane operator for Hiav Foco before eventually retiring as a driver from Ryder Trucking Systems. Jospeh was a true handyman and enjoyed doing projects around the house and working on cars. In his free time, Joseph enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife, Bettie Rae McMahon; brother, William McMahon; and sister, Yvonne.

Joseph is survived by his daughter and her husband, Melanie Jones (John "Jay"); grandsons, Shawn (Leigh) and Kyle Jones; great grandson, Bennett Jones; brothers, Theodore Jr. and Ralph Victor; sisters, Margaret Pyle, Sandra Jones, and Sherry McMahon; adopted grandson, Francis Straub IV (Hilary); adopted great grandchildren, Francis Straub V and Peyton Straub; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends whom he all loved.

Joseph's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team from Vitas Hospice for their care and compassion they showed to Joseph, especially Earl Lin Lewis and Mal Perkins.

A visitation for Joseph will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 11:30-12:30pm, with a memorial service following at 12:30pm. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
