Joseph E. McCullough, age 86 of Wilmington, DE, passed away quietly on March 5, 2016 in his home.He was born in Philadelphia, PA a son of the late Charlotte (Robb) and John McCullough. He served in the U. S. Army in the Headquarters 26 Infantry Regt. during post World War II where he was awarded the Occupation Medal of Germany.Joseph was a Fire Inspector with Rohm and Haas Manufacturing Company for 29 years prior to retiring in 1991. He was a parishioner at St. John the Beloved church. He enjoyed drawing, history, sharing laughter with people and traveling, most recently to Hawaii. He was a reservation volunteer at Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environment, a 50 year member of American Legion First State Post 29 and a long time member of the PUFL.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Joseph McCullough III, three brothers, John "Jack", Kenneth, and Eugene McCullough. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years just celebrating this anniversary on March 3rd, Nancy L. Foley McCullough; his son, Joseph E. McCullough, Jr. (LeAnn) of Pottstown, PA and his daughter, Maureen Parker (Robert) of Newark, DE; his six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Colin, Thomas, Kelseigh, Gaelen and Liam; his great grandchildren, Kylie and Hannah; his sister, Charlotte Ligato (Tony) of Philadelphia; his sister-in-law Mitzi McCullough and several nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends may call at Mealey Funeral Home,2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE on Monday evening from 5 to 7 PM, where a Christian Burial service will begin at 7 PM. Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE where military honors will be afforded.
