Joseph P Garyantes passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Joe was born to the late Veronica & Joseph P Garyantes on October 24th, 1931 in Wilmington, Delaware.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Josephine Conti Garyantes; daughter Linda Britingham (Bernie) Newark, DE; daughter Debra Callaghan (Bob) Newark, DE; and son Joseph P Garyantes IV Wilmington, DE; grandchildren Christopher and Jeffrey Brittingham; and Patrick and Kristen Callaghan; and his brother Donald Garyantes (Barbara) of McLean, VA.Joe attended Sacred Heart, Salesianum High School and the University of Delaware. Joe served with the 301st Armament and Electronics Squadron in the Air Force as Airman First Class during the Korean War. At school and in the Air Force he was very active in athletics. He then went on to work his entire career with the DuPont Company and retired after 35 years as Accounting and Control Supervisor at the Chestnut Run Facility. Joe thoroughly enjoyed surf fishing at Cape Henlopen in the fall of every year, spending time with his family and was an avid fan of all Philadelphia Sports Teams.A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at St John the Beloved Roman Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington DE 19808.
