Joseph Edward Burg, age 78, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

Joe was born in Wilmington, son of the late Laura (Davis) and Edward Joseph Burg. Joe was a graduate of the Salesianum School and attended the University of Delaware. Joe served in the Marine Corps and Army Reserves from 1965-1973. Joe went on to become a System Programmer for Wilmington Trust, and repaired the 24-hour ATM tellers on the side. After retirement he joined the Golf Course Ranger team at DuPont Country Club. In his free time, Joe was an avid golfer, die-hard U of D football and basketball fan, played softball in his younger years and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his daughter, Robin Burg; brother Edward Joseph Burg Jr; and sister, Elsie May Cantera.

Joe is survived by his son Brian Burg, daughter, Janice Burg; grandchildren, Matthew, Laura, Cassandra, Kelly, and Brian Jr.; two great grandchildren, Riley and Aiden; brother, Richard Burg; brother-in-law, Lawrence Cantera; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends whom he all loved.

A visitation for Joe will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19805, where family and friends may call from 10am to 11:30am with a service following at 11:30am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Joe's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60601.
