Jose M. Gonzalez, age 56, of Newark, passed away peacefully surround by his family on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Jose was born in Smyrna, DE, the son of Esther (Castro) and the late Enrique Gonzalez. He graduated from high school and attended Delaware Technical Community College for classes in construction. After his time at Del Tech, he started 30 years of employment at General Motors in Wilmington, working in multiple positions, ultimately retiring as an assembly line worker in their Ohio location. His family best described him as a true family man who never failed to lend a helping hand to anyone. In his free time, Jose loved to fish, work on cars with his sons, watch Nascar, work in construction, and spend time with his friends. In addition to his father, Jose was also predeceased by his step father, Raymond Pratt. Jose is survived by his loving wife, Angela L. Gonzalez; mother, Esther Pratt; sons, Christopher, Nicholas, and Joseph Gonzalez; granddaughters, Tegan and Riley Gonzalez; brother, Henry Gonzalez; and a host of close family friends who he all loved. A visitation for Jose will take place at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, on Thursday, December 9, 2021, where friends and family may visit from 12pm to 1pm, with a funeral service beginning at 1pm. Burial will be private.
