John "Scott" S. Griswold

John S. Griswold, age 61, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Scott was born in Akron, OH, son of Jane (Breakfield) and the late John Harlan Griswold. Scott graduated from Delcastle High School and went on to own and operate Scott's Speed Auto, a high-performance auto store. Scott was proud of his work and was part of the East Coast Timing Association and the Bonneville 200 Mile Per Hour Club. In his free time, Scott enjoyed working on cars, spending time with his friends and family, and listening to music, especially his favorite band, Pink Floyd.

Scott is survived by his son, Christopher (wife, Lauren) Griswold; mother, Jane Griswold; sisters, Sharon Griswold-Theodorson, Sherri Drolet, and Sheila Alford; his aunt, Marjorie; numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends; and his wife, all of whom he loved.

A visitation for Scott will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 10-11 am, with a Celebration of Life following from 11 am-noon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Scott’s name to the American Kidney Fund.
