Obituary

John G. Rodammer, age 74, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 1, 2026. Born in Saginaw, MI, he was the son of the late Leona (Trinklein) and Wilmar Rodammer. He graduated from Michigan Technological University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and went on to work for Dupont for 48 years. John and his family spent four years stationed in Spain during his career and look back on those memories fondly. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Wilmington. He enjoyed traveling to national parks with his family and had visited more than 15 parks over the course of his lifetime.

John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy Rodammer; his children, Sean Rodammer, Jennifer Rodammer, and Gretchen Strab (Curt); his grandchildren, Harper and Carter; his sisters, Ruth Barritt and Shirley Gibelyou; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. His passion in life was spending quality time with his family and the opportunity to meet and enjoy his grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808 on Friday April 10th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 11th at 10 A.M. at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church,  1301 N Broom Street Wilmington, DE 19806. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church or the National Parks Foundation.
