John was born to Virginia Turley Moseley and John Wooten Moseley, Jr. He was the second of their 4 children, Nancy Grainger Moseley, Fred Campbell Moseley, and Marian VanLandingham Moseley. Later, his mother divorced his father and remarried William Fred Paulsen, who had 3 sons, William Frederick Paulsen, George Trowbridge Paulsen, and Robert Caldwell Paulsen. John was predeceased by his mother, Virginia, father, John, stepfather, Bill, and brother Freddie.
John loved music and helped form a rock band during high school. He sang for the band. During one family vacation, traveling by car to Quebec Province in Canada, John begged to go to Woodstock, which was taking place at the time. Later in life, John loved the band Journey and Seal. After graduation, John enrolled in Penn State, Brandywine campus for 1 year. He worked as an orderly in a nursing home in Glenn Mills, PA. He became interested in modeling and modeled men's clothing briefly. While living at home, he often helped his stepfather repair cars and make home repairs. John came out as gay and decided that he would find community in Los Angeles, California and moved there. John lived there for 7 years. He decided to return to Pennsylvania after his partner died. He took a course in electronics. He found work at Salem nuclear power plant in Salem, NJ. John enjoyed helping his siblings when in need. He helped his sister, Nancy with her birds. He enjoyed his sister Marian's children, playing with them, sharing his imagination and listening to theirs. John had a very vivid imagination. His niece and nephew always enjoyed his company.
John lived alone, taking pride in his home in Wilmington, DE. John was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and lived his life according to his faith and that gave him a strong sense of purpose and meaning. He creatively maintained the home inspired by his faith and creativity. He often recycled common place items that we all take for granted and throw away and used them to repair his home. John would call these repairs custom. He enjoyed his days walking, finding items others would discard, bringing them home and repairing them and either using them or giving them to family members. He found an air conditioning unit which he repaired and gave it to his sister, Marian. The ac unit lasted at least 2 years. John also enjoyed repairing things in his home. John took deep pride in his ability to live independently and frugally, finding creative ways to maintain his home. John mostly kept to himself, deepened his faith in Jesus Christ and God. He would visit his parents in Bradenton, Florida, where they lived the remainder of their lives. John fought a long battle with an illness that usually cuts lives short. He survived decades longer than anyone would have imagined. He had researched treatments and used them to sustain and prolong his life. John has now returned to the Kingdom of God, eased from all suffering.
