Obituary

John James Moore, "Jack", age, 64, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 17, 2024.

Born in Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late Teresa (Corrigan) and John Moore. Jack graduated from the University of Delaware with his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and from Franciscan University with his Master's Degree in Theology. Jack spent time working at the Ferris School for Boys in Wilmington before founding Aquinas Academy in Bear, Delaware in 1997. Jack dedicated the last 26 years to the operation of Aquinas Academy and its liberal arts education and mission. He was a lifelong parishioner of the Cathedral of Saint Peter, often serving as an altar boy during high Mass when he was younger. Jack was devoted to his large and loving family. He enjoyed their annual trips to Hilton Head, SC and was happiest when surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his wife of 39 years, Diane Moore; his children and their spouses, Bernadette and Joseph Speck, John and Jeanne Marie Moore, Catherine Moore, Mary Moore, Theresa Moore, Monica Moore, and Gianna Moore; his grandchildren, Benedict and David; and his sisters, Mary Moore and Margaret "Peg" Cristello (Sal).

A visitation will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2024 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday May 23, 2024 at 11 A.M. at The Cathedral of Saint Peter, 500 N West St, Wilmington, DE 19801. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery 6001 Kirkwood Hwy. Wilmington DE 19808. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Aquinas Academy, 2370 Red Lion Rd, Bear, DE 19701.
