John H. Hotchkiss, age 81, of Bear, DE passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025.

Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Marion (Clawson) and Afton C. Hotchkiss. John graduated from Salesianum School and served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp. Following his military service, he spent his career working as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service. During his retirement, he enjoyed working as a security guard for the Delaware Park Racetrack and groundskeeper for the Shawnee Country Club. John enjoyed outdoor work including gardening, and loved to keep up his yard.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers, Bobby and David Hotchkiss. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Hotchkiss and Catherine Corrigan-Hotchkiss; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A Visitation Gathering will be held at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808 on Friday March 21, 2025 from 11 A.M. to 12 P.M. with Words of Remembrance to begin at 12 P.M. Committal services will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
