John Hassiepen, age 84, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 24, 2025.

Born in Baltimore, John was the son of the late Harriet Most and John Hassiepen. He graduated from Ridley Park high school in 1959 and went on to join the United States Airforce where he served honorably for 6 years. After the military, he worked at United Airlines as a Station Chief in load planning for many years.

John married his wife, Francine, in 1968. They enjoyed attending concerts together and dancing and gathering with friends and family. John was an avid Philadelphia sports and Notre Dame football fan. He was also very active in senior softball up until his 80's.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Francine Hassiepen. He is survived by his children, John and James Hassiepen; his grandchildren, John and Michael; and his sisters, Susan Chelo and Francis Pearson.

A visitation will be held on Saturday May 31st from 3-4PM, with funeral services beginning at 4PM at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to The Ronald McDonald House.
