Obituary

John J. Gipprich Jr. passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the age of 79.

A lifelong Philadelphian at heart, John was born and raised in the Packer Park neighborhood of South Philadelphia, just a short walk from the city's beloved sports complexes. He graduated from Bishop Neumann Catholic High School in 1964 and carried with him throughout his life the friendships and values formed during those years.

John attended Villanova University, earning a degree in Accounting in 1968. He went on to enjoy a distinguished career spanning more than six decades, providing trusted financial guidance and assistance to businesses, families, and friends. Known for his reliability, generosity, and willingness to help others, John built lasting relationships both professionally and personally.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, John remained deeply connected to his classmates and community. As an active member of the Goretti/Neumann Reunion Committee, he helped organize reunions and worked tirelessly to keep classmates connected over the years. He took great pride in maintaining friendships and bringing people together.

Above all, John cherished his family and the many friendships that enriched his life. He will be remembered for his kindness, his steady presence, his sense of loyalty, and the genuine interest he took in the lives of others.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Mary C. Heim; his sister, Sister Marie Gipprich; his daughters, Stacey Smythe, Lynn Gipprich, and Kris Steen (James Steen); his stepchildren, Marcie Parker (Michael Parker) and John Heery (Scott Ledbetter); and his three grandsons. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
