John P. Crowley, Jr., "Jack" 73 of Wilmington passed away peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Brandywine Nursing and Rehab Center.Jack was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Helen (West) and John P. Crowley, Sr. He retired from the Operating Engineers, Local 542 after over 40 years. Jack also served in the Delaware National Guard and was a proud member of the Prince of Piedmont. Jack was also a member of the Durney, St. Anthony's, and St. Gabe's Clubs, as well as other clubs. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family members at the Piedmont club, and was very well known for his kindness and love of life. He was especially fond of his nieces Shelly, Kim, Donna, Judy, Tricia, and Tara, and nephew Donnie. Jack was a free spirit who lived his life to the fullest, especially on his favorite day of the year, St. Patrick's Day. He would spend every St. Patrick's Day surrounded by his extended family celebrating their Irish heritage. Jack will be missed by many within Wilmington's Irish and Italian communities. Jack was predeceased by his parents, and his sisters Joanie and Judy. Jack is survived by his brother, Joseph Crowley and his wife, Alice of Wilmington and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins.The Crowley family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Brandywine Nursing and Rehab Center for the years of care and kindness shown to Jack.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 28, at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Fourth Street and Bancroft Parkway, where friends may call after 9 AM.
