John Westlake Crawford, age 88, of Newark, DE formerly of Vero Beach, FL and Whippany, NJ, passed away on January 3rd, 2021. Born in Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late Joyce (Westlake) and Harold G. Crawford. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. John went on to work as the Superintendent of Grounds at several local cemeteries in northern New Jersey. He retired to Vero Beach, Florida with his wife, Wilma where he enjoyed the game of golf and spending time on the beach. John enjoyed traveling to new places whether by plane, boat or Airstream. John was a member of the Vero Beach Community Church, the Order of Free Masons, and the Salaam Shriners. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother, Robert Crawford. John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wilma Crawford of Newark, DE; his son, Mark Crawford of Whippany, NJ; his daughter and son-in-law, Gail C. and Sean Ferry of Newark, DE; his grandchildren, Grace and Ava; his sister, Patricia Knisely; and a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Newark, 292 W Main St, Newark, DE 19711 on Saturday January 9, 2021. For further details, please contact the funeral home.
