Joan S. Moorhead, age 76, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully in Christiana Hospital, surrounded by her family on Monday, June 27, 2022.

Joan was born on February 1, 1946 in Wilmington, daughter of the late Stanley Swierzbinski and Stephanie Swierzbinski. She graduated from St. Hedwig's Elementary School in 1960, and from Wilmington High School in 1964, and went on to become an Executive Assistant at Du Pont Company for 41 years until her retirement. She was proud of her faith and was an active parishioner at St. Catherine of Sienna Roman Catholic Church. In her free time, Joan loved to spend time with her family. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, James Moorhead in 2020.

Joan is survived by her brother, Paul (Bernice) S. Swierzbinski; sister Mary (Charles) Mowday; step daughter, Adrienne Horsey; step grandchildren, Jacob, Logan, and Zachary Horsey; nieces, Jacqueline Garcia (Edwin), Kathleen Swierzbinski and Natalie Swierzbinski; nephews, Matthew Swierzbinski, M.D. (Carolina), Anthony (Liz) Swierzbinski, and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Swierzbinski, plus numerous other close family and friends whom she all loved.

A visitation for Joan will take place on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE 19803, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. Burial will be held privately at All Saints Cemetery.
