Joan Frances Mitchell, age 83, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2025. Born in Wilmington, Joan was the daughter of the late Martha (Kreer) and John Hynes. She graduated from Ursuline Academy and then began a long career of helping people, working for several doctors as an office administrator for many years. Joan was caring, compassionate, and fiercely independent and will be remembered for her beautiful smile. During her retirement, Joan enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, trips to Lewes, and rooting for her Eagles and Concord Football.

Joan is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert Mitchell, Greg and Kelly Mitchell, and Darin and Suzanne Mitchell; her grandchildren, Drew, Julia, Ashley, Makenzie, Joey, and Shayna; and her brother and sister-in-law, William and Hilda Hynes.

A visitation will be held on Friday January 24th from 2 P.M. to 3 P.M. with funeral services to begin at 3 P.M. at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808.
