Joan P. Hyer, age 79, of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

Joan was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Thelma (Chew) and Edwin Coyle. Joan graduated from P.S DuPont high school and went on to work at Delaware State University until her retirement. After a brief stint of enjoying retirement, Joan became a Head Teacher at Tutor Time until her second retirement. Joan loved living life to the fullest and always had a soft spot for animals, especially her dogs. In her free time, Joan enjoyed dancing, bowling, and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Casteel.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Barbara Conley Ross; son, Edward Lawrence Conley III (Melissa Conley); granddaughters, Krystin N. Ross (Keith Quesenberry) and Shelby L. Love (Brody Payne); grandsons, Jack Conley and Rian Conley; great granddaughters, Lorelai Sebastian and Brielle Shryock; great grandson, Josiah Love; nieces, Karen Moore and Joan Caplan; and a cousin who was like a sister, Nancy Woodward (Ray Woodward).

A visitation for Joan will take place on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may call from 11:30am to 12:30pm, with a memorial service following at 12:30pm. Burial will be held privately.
