Joan Hanley, 87, of Wilmington passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at her home in the Lorelton.
Joan was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Barbara (Danicka) and John Bogucki. She graduated from Wilmington High School and worked in the medical records department
of Christiana Care for over 20 years. Joan was a former member of St. John the Beloved Church.
Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph in 2002; her stepdaughter Mariann Flowers in 2014; and her five brothers and two sisters.
Joan is survived by her son Robert DeSantis of Wilmington and her daughter Linda DeSantis of Oakland, CA; her stepdaughters and their spouses Ann and John Strusowski of Wilmington, Barbara and Steve Trader of Columbus, GA and son-in-law Robert Flowers of Newark; her granddaughters Kate Hudson, Jamee Flowers-Harding, Stephanie Hand and Hannah Trader; her great-grandsons Jake, Joey and Justin Hudson and her sister Caroline Menaquale of Elsmere.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Lorelton for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 11 am at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. Friends may visit from 10 to 11 am. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
