Jean Frances Day, age 87, of Bear, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

Jean was born in Sunbury, PA, daughter of the late Eileene (Price) and Ernest Ferry. After graduating high school, she worked in the restaurant industry while raising her family. Later, she moved to the hotel industry as a Hotel Manager for EconoLodge where she worked until retirement. In her free time, Jean enjoyed bowling, watching football and rooting on her beloved Eagles and Raiders, watching old movies and tv shows, and taking family vacations to Outer Banks, NC. In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Leslie Day; and brothers, Ernest and Richard Ferry.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Sharon McHugh; sons, James (Carol) and Michael (Karen) Newhard; grandchildren, Stephenie Morley (Rob), Joshua (Heather), Justin, and Laura (Dana) Newhard; great grandchildren, Charlotte, Caylee, Lucas, and Nate; brother, James "Jim" Ferry.

A visitation for Jean will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 10:30 to 11:30AM, with a memorial service following at 11:30AM. Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jean's name to a charity of your choice.
